Director of Client Accounts

This full-time, onsite position requires strategic thinking, planning and budgeting, client services, account management, technical knowledge and problem solving skills, as well as a team-first mentality. The Director of Client Accounts is charged with managing multiple agency accounts, communicating with clients and managing internal traffic to ensure accounts are properly staffed and production is running smoothly. It's a people-oriented job – managing clients as well as internal and external resources – all to develop and launch effective, results-driven deliverables. Must be adept at client relations, understanding client needs, strategic planning, and delivering excellent execution in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

Project and Client Services Team Oversight

  • Oversees and manages Client Services Team (account managers and any future client services positions) – giving feedback on performance, answering questions, problem solving and hiring/firing as needed
  • Oversees Client Services team during development, production, and quality assurance of deliverables in areas of project management, program administration, web/database deliverables, print creative, and other areas
  • Maintains an understanding of status and timeline to ensure nothing is falling through the cracks and everything is on track
  • Responsible for smooth production of campaigns and ensures that campaigns are on time, within budget and achieve the strategic brand objectives
  • Assists account manager with building campaign timelines and tasks based on marketing plans
  • Trains, mentors and develops project management team

Project Management

  • Ability to manage client projects from start to finish
  • Work with clients to uncover needs and objectives, craft appropriate solutions, and identifies/implements ideas to help achieve client goals
  • Work with internal and contract strategists, writers, designers and technical staff to manage all moving parts of projects
  • Assign tasks, communicate updates and interface directly with the client
  • Work within designated project management system
  • Fully own projects, ensuring they get done according to scope and deadline

Client Relations

  • Serves as bridge between the client and the internal team, serving as day-to-day liaison with clients
  • Build relationships with agency clients, checking in to make sure they are having a positive experience and identifying new business opportunities within existing accounts
  • Understand clients' business and goals, and generate new ideas to enhance client performance
  • Build trust, credibility, and client referrals
  • Develop multi-tiered agency-client relationships and ties
  • Steps in when there is a problem on a project, such as when clarification is needed on scope or budget or when client is unhappy, in order to provide support to Client Services Team and help meet the client’s needs

Traffic Management

  • Oversees projects in project mgt. tool, including due dates and schedules
  • Helps prioritize projects for account managers and creative/technical team
  • Shifts, moves and re-prioritizes deadlines during busy times or when urgent/rush jobs come in
  • Helps account managers communicate with clients regarding timelines, stepping in as needed if a timeline cannot be accommodated or a deadline needs to be moved
  • Assists with finding contractors and outsourcing work as needed to keep traffic moving

Skill Requirements

  • College degree required; Marketing, Journalism, Advertising or Public Relations preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience, preferably at an agency, working with large-scale marketing campaigns or technology projects 
  • Strong experience and capabilities in strategic thinking, brand development, creative development, online marketing, advertising, social media, and campaign implementation and management
  • Familiarity of various CMS platforms and analytics
  • Online capabilities: must understand the role web plays in overall marketing strategies
  • Ability to manage a project from concept through production
  • Proven experience in managing teams working cross-functionally within an agency
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Must have keen attention to detail and be well-organized
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Ability to adapt to the often-changing needs of clients and/or the agency
